Newhall, Ca is a town with a rich history, dating back to the late 1870's. Well known for the first Gold and Oil discoveries in California, Newhall, named after Henry Mayo Newhall, was also a residence for the famous old western movie star William S Hart. Hart deeded his beautiful 22 room mansion which sits on 265 acres to Los Angeles County and now serves as one of Santa Clarita's most notable museums and attractions today. Today the Newhall real estate market is an area with numerous housing developments located on old fashioned tree lined streets, made up of mostly older custom homes. Happy Valley, Placertia Canyon, and the Peachland Estates are some of the most popular places to live within Newhall. Newhall's business district is primarily off of San Fernando Road, and Lyons Avenue. Newhall is also an excellent place to live if you are in need of close freeway access to either the state highway 14 N/S or interstate highway 5 N/S. Some local issues affecting Newhall homes for sale and real estate include, the redevelopment of downtown Newhall into "Old Town Newhall". This issue is pretty contentious due to its potential use of eminent domain of existing businesses and the like. A few other hot points in Newhall include the development of North Newhall adjacent to Placerita Canyon, as well as the development of the old Smiser Ranch on the far west end of Newhall adjacent to the interstate 5 freeway.
